This stair-way leads only to a large ritual chamber and crude prison cells.  An altar seems to pull the very life from you while a horde of folna lurch from the shadows.  You recognise their faces - the named townsfolk who came here before you.

Upon playing the Stairs card place 3 cursed forgotten and 1 pillar of death as monsters in this fight, ignoring the usual "peaceful" icon on the stairs card.

The sacrificial chamber holds a single living prisoner, taken by force from the town.

There is a reward for his safe return.

​

If you defeat all the monsters in this room, the stairs do not lead further, but instead add a "Hostage" companion.  Replace any bandits encountered due to the prisoners special rule with Cursed Forgotten.

 

If you escape the dungeon with the prisoner, gain 4 coins.
